We at Shepherd's Watch love all our dogs and pups. They are raised in the home alongside my family so they are accustomed to the hustle and bustle of our sometimes chaotic life. At Shepherd's Watch all our puppies undergo a well thought-out development program during their first nine weeks of their lives. They are handled and socialized from birth, with daily individual attention from both myself and my animal loving daughter is who 12yrs old. Between four and seventeen days, this daily attention includes our own Early Scent Introduction (ESI) program and the U.S. Military’s Early Neurological Stimulation exercises (see Dr. Carmen Battaglia's article in the AKC Gazette, May 95). This early neurological stimulation has been shown to: improve cardiovascular performance, strengthen heartbeats, strengthen adrenal glands, increase stress tolerance and increase resistance to disease. In tests of leaming, stimulated pups were found to be more active and were more exploratory than their non-stimulated littermates over which they were dominant in competitive situations. Secondary effects on learning have also been noted, including increased calmness, decreased errors and reduced distress signals when stressed. Our pups are also get loads of socialization with adults, children and other dogs. By the time they go home at ten weeks they have graduated from Puppy Kindergarten. This provides them with an introduction to basic obedience training, beginning housebreaking, leashes, and crate training. It also includes desensitization to loud noises such as blow dryers, vacuums, alarms etc... Lastly they have been on multiple car ride and if the weather permits, the pups will also be introduced to water and grass.
